musen is AI Radio: a continuous personal radio that adapts to your mood, habits and time of day. No playlists to build, no queue to manage.
musen is a free personal radio for iPhone and Android that adapts to your mood, habits and time of day.
Tell it what you want using text, voice or a picture and the radio keeps going from there.
AI helps musen understand the moment, choose and sequence existing music, and shape what happens next. An optional AI Host can speak between songs.
Powered by AI, tuned to you.
FOR ARTICLES.
musen is AI Radio, a free personal Live Radio experience for iPhone and Android.
Instead of asking listeners to build playlists or manage a queue, musen creates a continuous radio stream shaped around what they want to hear and how they listen. People can steer the radio using text, voice or picture Requests, while an optional AI Host can introduce music and add short spoken moments between songs.
musen uses AI to understand intent, select and sequence existing recordings available under the appropriate rights arrangements, and adapt what happens next.
The current public product does not generate the songs it plays.
musen is also testing artist participation and a new artist and fan economy built around listening time, user centric royalties and real time royalty attribution.
STREAMING GAVE US ACCESS
TO ALMOST EVERYTHING.
musen is exploring what comes next.
Finding music has never been easier.
But listening is not always a search task.
People listen while working, driving, training, cooking, travelling, resting and living the rest of their day.
In those moments, the question is often not what can I play?
It is what should happen next?
Radio has always been built around that question. musen makes the answer personal.
A CATALOGUE IS A LIBRARY.
RADIO IS TIME.
musen treats listening as a continuous experience rather than a series of disconnected choices.
FOUR MOVES.
-
Press play
Your personal radio starts and keeps going.
-
Tell it what the moment needs
Type it. Say it. Show it a picture. A Request can describe a mood, activity, genre, place, idea or almost any direction you want the radio to take.
-
The radio adapts
musen interprets the Request and shapes what happens next without turning the experience into another playlist you have to manage.
-
Add a Host if you want one
The optional AI Host can introduce music and add short spoken moments between songs. Turn it off and the radio becomes music only.
POWERED BY AI.
TUNED TO YOU.
AI in musen is primarily used to run the radio.
It can help understand what the listener wants, interpret the moment, choose music, shape a sequence and decide how the radio should continue.
It does not need to replace the music to change the listening experience.
AI SHAPES THE RADIO.
ARTISTS MAKE THE MUSIC.
The current public musen product plays existing recordings. It does not generate the songs being played.
WHY AI RADIO?
Traditional recommendation is very good at answering what might this person like?
Radio adds another question: what should happen right now?
- What played before matters
- The energy of the session matters
- The listener’s Request matters
- The moment matters
- What should come next matters
That is the territory musen calls AI Radio.
Not AI added to a playlist.
A radio experience designed around continuous adaptation from the beginning.

ARTISTS ARE STARTING
TO JOIN THE RADIO.
musen is running a closed artist participation test before opening creator participation more widely.
Independent artists are not intended to be a temporary catalogue.
Creator supplied music and professionally licensed catalogues are both part of the long term direction for musen.
Creator supplied music
Independent artists. Direct participation. New discovery.
Professionally licensed music
Labels. Distributors. Rights partners. Established catalogues.
Different ways into the radio.
Rights before reach.
A NEW ARTIST AND
FAN ECONOMY.
BUILT AROUND TIME.
Time already matters to radio.
It tells us what someone heard, what they stayed with and how listening unfolded.
musen is testing whether that same time can create a clearer economic connection between listeners and artists.
In the model being tested, royalty attribution happens in real time.
-
Listeners see who they support
Listeners can see how their eligible contribution is being attributed and which artists their listening supports.
-
Artists see royalties grow
Artists can see qualifying listening reflected in their attributed royalties as it happens.
-
Both sides see the same relationship
The listener sees the artists their listening supports. The artist sees listening become economic support.
Withdrawal requests target
A MAXIMUM OF 48 HOURS.
Attribution can happen in real time while settlement still receives the additional rights, accounting, fraud and verification checks required before money moves.
Real time where visibility matters.
Careful where money moves.
This artist and fan economy is currently being tested with a limited group. It is not part of the current public consumer product.
FROM LISTENING
TO ROYALTIES.
Project Checkmate is the attribution and accounting system musen is testing alongside the radio.
Its purpose is to connect what actually happened during listening with what can eventually have an economic result.
The path is intentionally clear:
-
Listen
What did the listener actually hear?
-
Attribute
Which music and eligible contributions were involved?
-
Show
What should the listener and artist be able to see?
-
Account
Which rights and economic rules apply?
-
Settle
What can ultimately be paid?
Know what happened before deciding what it is worth.
Project Checkmate is not currently a generally available artist payout product.
This document describes a conceptual and architectural framework. It does not constitute a commitment or guarantee regarding feature availability, economic outcomes, or regulatory classification.
HELP MUSIC FIND
THE RIGHT MOMENT.
A listener does not always know the name of the artist they want next.
Sometimes they know what they are doing. How they feel. Where they are going. What kind of night they want.
That creates a different kind of opportunity for music discovery.
A song can enter the radio because it belongs in the moment and makes sense in what comes next.
Then the listener can stay. Return. Discover the artist. Build a relationship through listening.
AI CAN HELP MUSIC FIND PEOPLE.
IT DOES NOT NEED TO REPLACE THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT.
THE PHONE IS THE BEGINNING,
NOT THE BOUNDARY.
The current public product is personal Live Radio on iPhone and Android.
musen is building beyond today’s release.
More music
Creator supplied music alongside professionally licensed catalogues.
More artist participation
Expansion beyond the current closed test as rights, product and operational foundations mature.
A new artist and fan economy
Real time royalty attribution, listener transparency and artist visibility are being tested around listening time.
The web
A web experience is part of the planned direction.
A better radio over time
Better continuity, discovery and adaptation as the radio understands more about the listening context.
Radio beyond one screen
Longer term directions include personal radio across software, devices, cars, homes and other environments.
CLEAR LINES.
-
Not an AI music generator.
The current public product does not generate the songs it plays.
-
Not a playlist builder.
The primary experience is continuous radio, not constructing and managing a finite list.
-
Not a chatbot.
Requests steer the radio. Conversation is not the product.
-
Not an open music upload platform today.
Artist participation is currently a closed test.
-
Not a public royalty service today.
Real time royalty attribution and the wider artist and fan economy are currently being tested with limited participation.

STORIES TO FOLLOW.
-
What comes after the playlist?
Streaming made almost every song available. What changes when people can express intent and let a personal radio handle what comes next?
-
AI for orchestration, not generation
Much of the AI music conversation is about generating more music. musen is exploring another role for AI: helping existing human music find the right listener at the right moment.
-
The return of radio, made personal
Traditional radio removed the work of choosing every song. musen asks what that experience becomes when the radio can adapt to one listener.
-
A new artist and fan economy
Can listeners see which artists their subscription supports while artists see royalties grow as listening happens?
-
Real time royalty attribution
musen is testing a model where qualifying listening can be attributed economically in real time while settlement remains subject to additional checks.
-
User centric royalties built around time
What happens when each listener’s contribution follows the music they actually spend time with?
-
Music discovery without AI generated songs
AI shapes the radio while human artists remain behind the music.
-
Rights in the age of AI
Streaming permission is not automatically analysis permission. Analysis permission is not automatically AI training permission. musen is building around those distinctions rather than treating access as universal permission.
-
Radio beyond the phone
What happens when personal radio can eventually become part of cars, homes, devices, software and intelligent environments?
